The Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is seeking to fill five positions across its research and technical units. The institute’s mission is to generate new knowledge for public health policy and action, and it is seeking motivated and skilled individuals to contribute to this vital work.

1. Research Officer Intern (Statistics/Economics)
- Job Overview: IHI is seeking a highly motivated graduate to join a cutting-edge research project called Transmission Zero (T0), which aims to develop innovative genetic tools to halt malaria transmission. This internship focuses on providing specialized training in genomics and transgenesis.
- Responsibilities: You will apply statistical and econometric methods to analyze data on malaria transmission, assist in synthesizing scientific literature, prepare summary reports, and contribute to field activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Essential Qualifications: You must hold a degree in Statistics or Economics, or a related field.

2. Research Officer (Molecular Biology/Biotechnology)
- Job Overview: This role is for a skilled graduate to join the Transmission Zero (T0) project as a Research Officer Intern. You will be trained in genomics and transgenesis, contributing to groundbreaking research.
- Responsibilities: You will work under supervision in a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory (BSL3), performing experiments involving DNA, RNA, and protein analysis, and learning molecular biology methods such as PCR and sequencing.
- Essential Qualifications: You must hold a science-related degree, preferably in Molecular Biology and/or Biotechnology.

3. Research Officer (Medical Doctor)
- Job Summary: IHI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Officer (Medical Doctor) to collaborate with the Chronic Diseases Clinics (CDCI) unit. You will play a vital role in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with HIV and/or Tuberculosis.
- Responsibilities: You will treat patients in accordance with national guidelines, diagnose and treat opportunistic infections, maintain accurate patient documentation, participate in ward rounds, and contribute to research activities.
- Essential Qualifications: You must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, a Certificate of Internship, and at least one year of experience in a similar role.

4. Research Scientist (Intern)
- Job Description: This role is for a highly skilled Research Scientist Intern to join the Transmission Zero (T0) project. The role requires a strong understanding of molecular biology techniques and provides specialized training.
- Responsibilities: You will assist in performing laboratory experiments (including DNA, RNA, and protein analysis), learn molecular biology methods, and contribute to genetic manipulations and the maintenance of malaria parasite cultures.
- Essential Qualifications: You must have a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Parasitology, or a related field.

5. Laboratory Scientist
- Job Summary: IHI is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and experimental laboratory tests, primarily in the areas of Immunology and Molecular Biology. The goal is to produce reliable and precise data for scientific investigations.
- Responsibilities: You will perform assigned lab tests, adhere to safety protocols, prepare and review standard operating procedures (SOPs), and carry out quality control measures. You will also receive, label, and prepare samples for analysis and maintain accurate records.
- Essential Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences or a related field, with at least one year of experience in biomedical research and clinical trials.
