Mastercard Foundation University of Cambridge Scholarship 2026 for African Students
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge is designed to provide fully-funded opportunities for African students from underrepresented communities. Aim and Benefits of the Scholarship
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program provides a comprehensive benefits package that covers:
- Course fees.
- A monthly living/maintenance allowance.
- The visa application fee, IHS surcharge, and a return economy ticket from your home country to the UK.
- Additional benefits include a cohort-wide induction program, a termly leadership training module, and support to undertake a 3-6 month placement with a leading African-based organization.
- You’ll also get a monthly living allowance. The program also covers an allowance for a laptop and health cover.
Requirements for Qualification
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree.
- Meet the academic entry requirements of your chosen course. Some courses require the equivalent of a UK first-class honors degree, while others require an upper second-class degree.
- Be from and live in an African country, though you can apply if you are temporarily residing outside Africa for study or work.
- Apply for an eligible, full-time master’s course. Excluded courses include the Master of Accountancy (MACC), Business Administration (MBA), Master of Corporate Law (MCL), and Master of Finance (MFIN).
- Demonstrate a commitment to giving back to your community, home country, or Africa, with a focus on sustainability and climate resilience.
How to Apply
To apply, you will need to start a course application through the University of Cambridge’s postgraduate course directory.
- After starting your application, you can opt in for funding.
- If you meet the entry requirements, you will be able to select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program from the list.
- You’ll also need to submit a scholarship statement focusing on your career/education history, leadership potential, and how you hope to contribute to a sustainable future in Africa.
- Your application must be submitted by your course’s funding deadline, which is typically in early December 2025 or early January 2026.
