The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) operates on a flexible admission system for its open-distance learning programmes. Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year, including for those wishing to start around March 2026, are currently open.

Unlike conventional universities, OUT accepts postgraduate applications throughout the year, and successful applicants are enrolled in batches.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for a Masters programme, you must meet the following minimum requirements.

1. Academic Eligibility:

  • You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution with at least a Lower Second Class (a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 5.0 scale).
  • OR applicants with a “Pass” degree (GPA 2.0 – 2.69) may be considered if they also have a Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized institution.
  • Specific programmes may have additional or slightly different requirements (e.g., relevant work experience).

2. Required Documents for Upload: You will need to have clear, scanned PDF copies of the following:

  • Official Bachelor’s Degree Certificate.
