A clarification on the admission cycle: The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) does not follow a “March Intake” schedule for its Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree) programmes. The March intake is typically for postgraduate studies.

The current, open admission window for the 2025/2026 academic year for Bachelor’s degrees is the November Intake. Applications for this intake are currently open.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for a Bachelor’s Degree programme, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:

1. A-Level (ACSEE) Entry:

  • You must have at least two principal passes in relevant subjects.

2. Diploma Entry:

  • You must have a relevant Ordinary Diploma from an institution registered by NACTVET.
  • Your Diploma must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • OR a Diploma with a GPA of 2.7 (Lower Second Class) from an institution that uses GPA, and at least four passes (D’s) in your Form Four (CSEE) examinations.

3. Required Documents for Upload: You will need clear, scanned PDF copies of:

  • A-Level (ACSEE) Certificate and/or Diploma Certificate and Transcripts.
  • O-Level (CSEE) Certificate.
  • A clear copy of your Birth Certificate.

How to Apply

The application is done entirely online.

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to the OUT general admission system.
  2. Create an Account: You must register for a new account using a valid email address and phone number.
  3. Generate Control Number: Log in and the system will guide you to generate a Control Number for the non-refundable application fee.
  4. Pay the Fee: Pay the application fee (typically TZS 20,000 for Tanzanians) via mobile money or bank using the Control Number.
  5. Complete the Form: Fill in all required sections, including your personal details, academic history (your index numbers), and your chosen programme.
  6. Upload Documents: Upload all the required documents (certificates, transcripts, etc.) as clear, scanned PDF files.
  7. Submit: Review all your information and formally submit your application.

The “March Intake” is not for undergraduate degrees at OUT. You must apply for the current November Intake for the 2025/26 academic year using the official admission.out.ac.tz portal.
