Diploma & Certificate at OUT Intake 2025/26

Here is an important clarification on the admission schedule: The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) does not have a main “March Intake” for its Diploma and Certificate programmes. The March intake is for postgraduate studies.

The primary, open admission window for Diploma and Certificate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year is the November Intake. Applications for this intake are currently open.

Application Requirements

To be eligible, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications.

1. For Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 5-6):

  • You must have an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass and one subsidiary.
  • OR a relevant Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) from an institution registered by NACTVET, with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

2. For Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4):

  • You must have a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) with at least four passes (“D” grade or higher).

Required Documents: You will need clear, scanned PDF copies of your O-Level (CSEE) certificate and, if applicable, your A-Level (ACSEE) or NTA Level 4 certificate and transcripts.

How to Apply

The application is done entirely online.

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to the OUT general admission system.
  2. Create an Account: You must register for a new account using a valid email address and phone number.
  3. Generate Control Number: Log in and the system will guide you to generate a Control Number for the non-refundable application fee.
  4. Pay the Fee: Pay the application fee (typically TZS 20,000 for Tanzanians) via mobile money or bank using the Control Number.
  5. Complete the Form: Fill in all required sections, including your personal details, academic history (your index numbers), and your chosen programme. Make sure to select “Diploma” or “Certificate” as your application type.
  6. Upload Documents: Upload all the required documents (certificates, transcripts, etc.) as clear, scanned PDF files.
  7. Submit: Review all your information and formally submit your application.
