Logistics Officer (Warehouse) NOB FT at WFP
The World Food Programme (WFP), a recipient of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize, is seeking a Logistics Officer to join its team in Dodoma, Tanzania. This is a full-time position with a deadline for applications on September 24, 2025, at 23:59 GMT+03:00.

Job Purpose
The Logistics Officer will play a crucial role in the daily planning and coordination of WFP’s logistics hub operations in Dodoma. This role involves managing the entire flow of humanitarian food and non-food items, from receipt and storage to dispatch, ensuring cost-effective operations and timely delivery to beneficiaries across the region.
You will be responsible for ensuring all required contract modalities are in place and that logistics operations are seamlessly coordinated with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and local authorities. The goal is to provide timely and efficient food assistance to countries such as Tanzania, DRC, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Officer’s role is multifaceted, with a focus on warehouse operations, logistics, and stakeholder management.
- Managing the logistics hub operations by leading and coaching the team to ensure efficient delivery.
- Consolidating and planning shipments and managing all operational aspects of cargo, from receipts to dispatches.
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of commodities.
- Supervising and monitoring cargo receipts, storage, and dispatch operations to avoid delays and additional costs.
- Ensuring timely processing of all required documentation, such as import permits and quality certifications.
- Protecting WFP’s interests by closely coordinating with cargo superintendents to ensure the full quantity and good condition of cargo.
- Implementing measures to prevent food commodity losses and reporting any incidents or damages promptly.
- Building productive partnerships with supply chain colleagues, donors, and humanitarian agencies.
- Adhering to WFP standard guidelines and taking responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives in all areas of work.
Desired Experience for the Role
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Education: Completion of an Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Shipping, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant postgraduate professional-level work experience in shipping, port operations, and/or related fields. Experience in managing complex logistics operations, including transport contracting, warehouse management, and staff supervision, is essential.
- Languages: Fluency in both oral and written English and Swahili is required.
