About the Role: Enumerator

Hand in Hand Eastern Africa-Tanzania (HIHEA TZ) seeks to recruit temporary enumerators to conduct quantitative data collection in our areas of operation (Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Singida, Manyara, Dodoma, and Simiyu regions). Under the supervision of the MEL team, enumerators will be required to administer interviews with selected individuals, ensuring the information collected is valid, accurate, and handled with strict confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Enumerators will be expected to:

Attend a comprehensive training workshop before the assignment begins to gain a thorough understanding of the scope, tools, and purpose of the data collection.
Read and master all instructions included in the data collection manual and questionnaire.
Conduct interviews with designated participants in a professional, objective, and sensitive manner.
Accurately collect and record data using digital data collection tools like Kobo Collect / ODK on a tablet.
Ensure all collected data is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Coordinate with the assigned supervisor, providing daily reports on work progress and any challenges encountered.
Maintain the confidentiality and security of all participant information.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

A Diploma or Degree preferably in Statistics, Economics, Agriculture, Development Economics, Project Management, Sociology, Community Development, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
At least 2 years of proven experience in collecting both quantitative and qualitative data for research or M&E purposes.
Essential experience using tablets (Android) and digital data collection applications, specifically Kobo Collect and/or ODK.
Strong interviewing skills and a keen attention to detail.
Ability to build trust and rapport with community members.
Fluency in both written and spoken Swahili and English.
