Here is the guide for the UDSM Masters degree March intake, Applications are currently open for the University of Dar es Salaam’s (UDSM) March intake for the 2025/2026 academic year. This intake is specifically for Postgraduate Programmes, including Masters (MA, MSc, LLM, etc.) and PhD degrees. It is the final opportunity to enroll for the 2025/26 session, with studies commencing in March 2026.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for a Masters programme, you must meet the following minimum requirements.

1. Academic Eligibility:

  • For Masters by Coursework and Dissertation: You must have at least a Lower Second Class Bachelor’s Degree (a minimum GPA of 2.7) from a recognized institution.
  • For Masters by Thesis: You must have a strong academic record, typically a GPA of 3.5 or above in your first degree.
  • Applicants with a Pass Degree: You may be considered if:
    • Your undergraduate performance in the proposed subject of study was a ‘B’ grade or higher.
    • OR you have a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field.
    • OR you can prove you have relevant research experience and/or additional training.

2. Required Documents for Upload: You will need to have clear, scanned PDF copies of the following:

  • Official Bachelor’s Degree Certificate.
  • Official Academic Transcripts for your degree.
  • O-Level and A-Level Certificates.
  • A clear copy of your Birth Certificate.
  • An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Research Concept Note (for Thesis/Research Masters): A 1-2 page summary of your proposed research.
  • Contact information (full name, title, official email) for at least two academic or professional referees.

How to Apply

The application deadline for this March intake is February 28, 2026.

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to the UDSM admission website. On the homepage, click the tab or link for “Postgraduate” applications.
  2. Create Your Account: Register for a new admission account using a valid email address. You must verify this account via a link sent to your email.
  3. Generate Control Number & Pay: Log in and the system will guide you to generate a Control Number for the non-refundable application fee.
    • Tanzanians: TZS 50,000
    • Non-Tanzanians: USD 50 Pay this fee using mobile money or a bank.
  4. Complete the Application: After your payment is confirmed, fill in all sections of the online form. This includes your personal details, academic history, and programme choice.
  5. Upload Documents & Add Referees: Upload all the required documents listed above and enter the details of your referees (the system will contact them).
  6. Submit: Carefully review all your information and formally submit your application.
