Programme Policy Officer at WFP
The World Food Programme (WFP), a recipient of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize, is seeking a Programme Policy Officer to join its team in Dodoma, Tanzania. This is a full-time position with a deadline for applications on September 24, 2025, at 23:59 GMT+03:00.

Purpose of the Assignment
The selected candidate will serve as the Activity 5 Manager under the WFP’s Country Strategic Plan. This role is crucial for leading an initiative that provides technical assistance to smallholder producers, helping them diversify their livelihoods, reduce post-harvest loss, and improve their access to information, technologies, and markets.
You will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of activities, coordinating with partners, and fostering new partnerships. The role involves providing technical advice on agribusiness, agricultural extension, and post-harvest management, as well as engaging with various government ministries to advocate for policies that benefit smallholder farmers.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Programme Policy Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Overseeing project implementation to ensure projects stay on track with WFP and donor requirements.
- Managing a specialised team, ensuring strong coordination and communication.
- Ensuring high-quality and timely project reporting.
- Supporting the development of government, public, and private sector engagement.
- Providing technical expertise in developing market-based business interventions.
- Facilitating collaboration to promote an integrated food systems approach, with a focus on gender, youth, and resilience.
- Supporting resource mobilisation efforts and liaising with donors.
- Leading the expansion of aggregation networks, such as the Farmers Service Centre (FSC) model.
- Coordinating teams on the use of digital platforms to enhance access to agribusiness services.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Education: A university degree or postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics (Agriculture or General), Agribusiness Management, Agriculture Science, Project Management, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of postgraduate experience with a proven track record of planning and implementing smallholder farmer projects. You should possess strong project management and marketing skills, as well as expertise in agribusiness projects and value chain analysis.
- Language: Fluency in both oral and written English and Swahili is required.
